Organising a Sleep Study

The diagnosis of sleep apnoea through a sleep study is the first step towards your health and wellbeing. Traditionally, sleep studies were conducted in hospitals. However these days, with greatly improved technology these can be arranged to be done in the comfort of your own home.

Portable monitors and the newest technology have simplified the at-home sleep study. Experienced and friendly Sleep Technicians make the process way less clinical.

Further information on types of treatment and their effectiveness can be found here – Treating Sleep Apnoea

What Next?

Once the study is done it is assessed by a sleep physician, and depending on the severity and personal preference, treatment is recommended. If an oral appliance is recommended, then an appointment for a 3D scan of your teeth is made and can be fitted about 3 weeks later, after it is manufactured specifically for your mouth. This is a custom fit appliance that should be very durable and comfortable.

Have You Done a Sleep Study Already?

If you have already been diagnosed with sleep apnoea and have been referred by a health professional, then we will assess your sleep study so we can recommend the best treatment for you.

Your main concerns and medical history will be an important part of deciding what treatment options you have available. Your specialist or medical practitioner will be kept informed on the results of treatment and decisions.

Once you have your oral appliance, it may be appropriate to send you back for another sleep study to see if your sleep apnoea or snoring has improved. We will liaise with your GP and Sleep Physician to arrange this and keep the lines of communication open for the best service.

Call us on 03 5331 9489 to discuss and we will arrange a sleep study for you.
